PSE needs Seattle / Tacoma area homeowners to use less energy in order to avoid having to build hugely expensive new generation capacity. In an effort to encourage energy conservation, various “rebate” programs are offered to customers in the PSE service territory. Programs are modified as new energy efficiency technologies come to market. Currently, an $800 rebate is being offered for heat pumps with efficiency of over 10 HSPF (Heating efficiency) and 16 SEER (cooling efficiency) ratings. An additional $300 rebate is available if backup heat is locked out above 30 degrees.
Remember – heat pumps provide year round comfort with heating in the cold seasons and air conditioning in the summer.
Any qualified heating / cooling contractor should be able to help homeowners understand options appropriate for their situation. They should also provide documentation necessary to obtain any and all available rebates.
